IMPRINT: Immigrant Professional Integration
Statement in response to President Trump’s travel ban on individuals from certain Muslim-majority countries and the halt to the U.S. Refugee Resettlement Program
On Friday, January 27th, President Trump issued an executive order to halt individuals from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the U.S., suspending the U.S. Refugee Resettlement Program, and indefinitely barring Syrian refugees from entering the U.S. The executive order also drastically cut the total number of refugees who can enter the U.S. this year from 110,000 to 50,000 individuals.
The IMPRINT coalition works to advance the economic integration of foreign-trained immigrants and refugees in the U.S. Together, we have a combined 50 years of experience in providing services to assist these professionals to reenter their careers, and have seen the enormous contributions immigrants and refugees make to their communities and our nation.
IMPRINT strongly opposes this travel ban and believes that it undermines our nation’s prosperity, security, and standing in the world. In the coming days and weeks, IMPRINT members and our growing circle of partners will continue to educate the public, elected officials, state and local leaders, and the Administration about the vast benefits immigrants and refugees bring to our country. We will continue working to break down the barriers to employment and economic integration that these talented individuals face.
